Mike started his career in the grocery industry in 1991. After 10 years, in varying roles, his drive for further education, business development and love of people, took him into the finance industry. During those five years he was able to expand his knowledge, while continuing to work with people, which has always been a constant. His passion for the grocery industry brought him back into this business, working with Advantage Solutions. For the past 9 years Mike has managed in excess of 40 brands, across the majority of categories. He developed meaningful relationships with customers and clients, alike. Recognized for his dedication, he was awarded Vendor of the Year, in 2014, by Thrifty Foods. His natural leadership skills, drive, and desire to continue making a difference in the industry, while not sacrificing his priority of family or lifestyle, was the catalyst for the decision to collaborate with Roger and Doug (JBM Management). Away from work Mike and his wife Diana, of 13 years, are very involved with their kid’s activities and family and outdoor adventures; in this heaven we call British Columbia.
Roger has 41 years total retail grocery and selling experience. His retail experience includes 13 years with I.G.A., Super Valu stores and Fairway Markets in BC, where he held both department and store management positions. He held a Key Account Manager position working for Perco Sales and Tees and Persse, where he managed both head office and retail. Roger was also the Regional Manager for Rogers Chocolates, BC and Alberta, for 3 years where he generated double digit growth each year. As a 20-year partner of JBM he successfully helped numerous clients, across BC, introduce new products and further develop their brands. Roger’s reputation and strong work ethic are well recognized by customers and clients alike. Roger’s been married to Nicki for 32 years and has five grown children. In his spare time he is an avid golfer and while, unfortunately, unable to call himself a PAR golfer he loves the game and strives to improve his handicap.
Doug ‘s grocery career started in 1970 with Super Valu, where he spent 10 years in numerous positions, before moving to Nanaimo. He stayed in Nanaimo for nine years and worked for several independent grocers, working his way up to a buyer and flyer coordinator. During this time, Doug also did consulting work, as well as buying and advertising for Super Valu in Kitimat. In Victoria he managed Fairway Markets for three years and then entered the grocery sales force. He spent five years as Lower Island sales rep for Richardson Foods Group, winning numerous awards for his outstanding sales performance. Doug joined the JBM Management group in 1997. He has spent the last 21 years there as co-owner/operator. With his proven track record of exceptional sales achievements and accomplishments, he has built an excellent rapport, and close relationships within the retail food trade and with his clients. His 21 years in retail, (six years as a buyer), combined with his 26 years in sales has been invaluable in his understanding of “both sides” of the grocery industry. Outside of work Doug has enjoyed coaching his two sons in multiple sports, golfing, gardening and travelling with Val, his wife of 33 years.
